Saturday, February 23, 2019 - Our Annual Costume Ball! - 6pm Buccaneer Room, Lake Charles Civic Center
Costume and wrist band required! Doors will open at 6:00 pm and close promptly at 7:00 for the duration of the Court Presentation which begins at 7:15. During the Presentation, no one may enter and the bar will be closed.
The band will be The Mixed Nuts.
Civic Center Notice: The Civic Center now prohibits both confetti and glitter from being used at balls and it will not be allowed to be brought in. In our Civic Center contract it states: "These products stain and damage floors and cause excessive cleaning. You will be charged to have the floors repaired if damaged." Security will be checking before you are allowed to enter and will confiscate items not allowed, so just don't bring them.
The Krewe pays a food fee so our members are welcome to bring in their own food, but a corkage fee for all alcohol brought in MUST be paid and all the bottles stamped. The Civic Center is very strict about this and fines of $250 can be assessed for liquor which is "sneaked" in under costumes.
No wrapped gifts will be allowed, so use gift bags instead.
A copy of the Civic Center's Alcohol Regulations and rules regarding ice and gift wrapping as well as corkage fees can be downloaded HERE.
Here are the Cash Bar Prices as well as the Liquor by the Bottle prices. Police officers will be checking alcohol and wristbands before allowing anyone entrance into the Ball. A cash bar will be available.
Mavy Ducote Photography will be taking photos during the night, so get yourselves and your groups memorialized with a photo. Click here to get a copy of Mavy's 2018 photo price list
Costumes and wrist bands are required! Remember to wear your wristband, put it on while getting dressed so you don't forget it.

March 1, 2019 - Mardi Gras Merchants' Parade - Starts at 7:00 PM
Location: Downtown/Midtown Lake Charles
Local business leaders and social organizations take to the streets on festive Mardi Gras floats from the Lake Charles Civic Center to Ryan Street, ending at Sale Road.
Although this is not an official Krewe du Lac function, the Merchant's Parade is a fun parade for the whole family. If you're looking for a good place to watch it, why don't you come join a big bunch of our Krewe buddies at Cooler's Ice House, 3622 Ryan St. If you get there early, you can back your pickup or SUV near the street to sit in back with the kids or bring lawn chairs to set up next to the sidewalk. The adults can socialize in the warmth and smoke free atmosphere of Coolers and then go out to the street when the parade gets there. Another benefit of Coolers is that they have clean rest rooms... and cold beer!
March 2, 2019 - World Famous Cajun Extravaganza/Gumbo Cook-Off, Civic Center, 8am - 2pm
Admission is $5, and children 5 and under are admitted free and you get to eat as much gumbo as you want.
The public gets to try a bowl from every pot of chicken and sausage, seafood or wild game gumbo in a hot contest of more than 60 teams on Saturday, February 10, at the Lake Charles Civic Center Exhibition Hall from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Amateur and professional teams will stir up hundreds of gallons of rich, spicy gumbo and serve it at the Cajun Extravaganza and Gumbo Cook-off, which is a Mardi Gras tradition among krewes, professionals and amateurs in Southwest Louisiana. The event is a must-be-there mix of award winning food, floor-stomping music, and the down-home spirit of Mardi Gras.
Gumbo contestants begin cooking at 7:30 a.m., doors open at 8 a.m. and judging is at 11:30 a.m., with gumbo served immediately afterward until 1:30 p.m. In addition to scrumptious food, there will be festive music.
There are three categories: chicken and sausage, seafood and wild game, and there are amateur and professional divisions.
